01 / THE PREMISE
Most open banking is a black box. This one isn't.
Every consent screen, every payee check, every ledger entry — visible, and running on infrastructure built from the actual regulatory text, not a marketing summary of it.
European open banking runs on rules most engineers never read. PSD2, the incoming PSD3/PSR framework, the Berlin Group specs, the EPC's Verification-of-Payee scheme — dense, precise, and almost always hidden behind a bank's own closed integration. ZILLQ exists to put that machinery in the open: a working PSD2 sandbox, built independently, with PSD3/PSR-ready models where those rules are settled enough to implement — and clearly marked where they're still proposed, not yet in force.
It's a one-person build, still growing, deliberately narrow in scope and deep in correctness. Synthetic money, real mechanics. Every payment you initiate here really does pass through consent, Verification of Payee, Strong Customer Authentication, and a hash-chained ledger — the same sequence a real transfer would, minus the real bank on the other end.
The work behind it — and the reasoning for why it's built this way — is also the subject of two consultancy offers below, for anyone who wants the same rigor applied to their own payments engineering.
